Weekend Events
Hello everyone,
I think that weekend events should be done in order to make fun , to bring some originality in the game. However , i noticed that they're getting pretty repetitive for some time now . All are kinda meant to make players farm and get 3/4 of the title playing whole week end. Here are the typical events that happen too much in my opinion :
- double faction points
- double reputation points
- double HA points
If we couple that with casual farms ( i.e nicholas , UW , DoA) and players in PvP , that's not making a game fun at all like it used to be ....
It would be much more interesting to make original things such as :
- Old times : this week end, players will only be able to use nightfall skills
- 69 : this week end , male characters will look like female and opposite...
- Survivors : this week end , players won't be able to use monks
- ....

Rofl.
The game is six years old. GW2 is just around the corner. ANet wants to make more players happy to get them hyped up for GW2 more. The more titles/stuff in HoM one gets, the more probable it is he will stay in the ANet-train, as he not only got attached to the game he's playing, but also has perspective of future reward.
While i agree they might add something just for fun from time to time, i seriously prefer double reputation points instead of triple lockpick drop rate, even though i don't need to do anything in anticipation for GW2.

I'm sure monks would love that weekend, I can see them now. What do you mean I cant use my monk.....
But some originality would be fine, i'm all for a pve skills in random arena weekend or something like that.

Theres a page on the wiki that actually shows previous weekend events. Its fairly acurate to predict the next event likely to show up. Nothing is really making you participate in an event if you dont want to. As far as new events, those likely take up too much time and coding to just use for one weekend. But i kinda see your point. Sorta.

No...
Events shouldn't force you to join them and surely shouldn't limit our opportunities to play.

"Instead of giving bonus weekends like practically every other MMO on the market, we have decided to cripple our players and restrict them from playing certain professions or accessing certain parts of the game! Being different is awesome!"
I would love to see some new weekend events, but not if they are going to cause the in-game population to drop for an entire weekend. Your suggestions would more than likely cause that to happen.

Ok so something more fun... could be made...
but I really find those examples you made... dislikeable...
Im not a main monk... but some are, not being able to play on main char for a whole weekend?
And it may just be a visual... but I would definantly not play in a weekend where my pretty girls are made into guys. It was fun that time at aprils fool, thats about it.
Im sure Im not the only one that would dislike this enough to skip the game for the duration of those things. Would not really be fun to all.
That said, and I don't really mean to hate on your idea... some renewal would be sorta nice. But should be something that was not forced on everyone, but something you can chose to join.

What i wanted to meant with " monk restriction " was like being unable to use monk in a PvP arena , not in whole game . Of course then , it would be a bit annoying for main characters who are monks...
What i suggested are just examples though , to have a bit of originality for once. I don't believe people really have that much fun farming over and over the same place whole week end. 1 hour is cool , but is 30 hours consec really ?

different weekend events would be nice (like the gaile going away party was a nice change)....triple dye drop weekend, rare drop weekend (make it 10x the normal probability), etc....but not 'lets not play weekend' where you cant play since your main character isnt allowed NO.

Weren't week ends supposed to repeat every 6 months?? Now , we once again get double points for eye of the north , an event which appeared on 14th january ( so that's less than 2 months ago)............
Everything is really turning into " Grind wars " or so just to keep people busy with farming title....I'm expecting a lot from 7 hero update and i'm almost sure it will be a disappoint...

Certainly looks like they changed the order. Guess I can't plan my weekends after the old rotation anymore hehe.
